The Jasper Band Parent Organization gave three scholarships to seniors at the banquet on May 6.
Olivia Smith is a four-year member of the JHS Marching Band and Symphonic Band. She was selected to play in the All State Honor Band in 2017, the All State Band in 2018, and the All State Percussion Ensemble in 2018 and 2019. She was the 2018 Philharmonic Club’s Outstanding Vocal and Instrumental Student Award winner. She has performed at the state solo and ensemble contest with gold ratings for the past 5 years. She is the daughter of Jodi Smith and Aaron Smith. She plans to attend Ball State University in the fall to study visual communication.
Nicholas Bell is the son of Timothy and Dee Ann Bell. He plans to go to Purdue University and major in chemical engineering. During his seven years of band he played percussion, later concentrating on snare drum. He gave lessons after school, earned gold each of his four years at the solo and ensemble. He was in All State Band his sophomore year, and Honor State Band his senior year.
Isaac Hopf plays the vibraphone in band at Jasper High School, as well as, other keyboard instruments. He’ll be pursuing a major in computer science at the University of Southern Indiana after high school. His parents are Chris and Andrea Hopf.
