Bridgette Jarboe has filed as a Republican seeking re-election to the office of Dubois County Clerk.
Jarboe, 46, lives in Jasper with her husband, Michael Bartley, daughter Grace Ellen Jarboe, 8, and stepsons Tyler Bartley, 21, and Jacob Bartley, 18.
She graduated from Jasper High School in 1986. Her high school activities included band for four years, color guard for three years, baseball bat girl for four years, choir, prom committee and mascot for football games. During high school, she worked part-time at Siebert’s clothing store in Jasper.
Jarboe attended Vincennes University and graduated in 1988 with an associates degrees in interior design and fashion merchandising. At VU, she was a member of the Clark Hall Council and participated in the Miss Vincennes pageant and intramural sports. She was a member of the Alpha Theta Chi sorority.
For five years, Jarboe lived in Fayetteville, N.C., near the Army base at Ft. Bragg. There, she was married to a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. She said in her candidacy announcement the experience helps her understand and respect anyone who serves our country and makes her appreciates the hardships of a military wife.
Jarboe has worked since age 13. She has worked for Siebert’s, Decora, Indiana Furniture, Shamrock Cabinets, Kitchen Jewels, Mac-A-Doos and Out of Bounds, Stens Corporation and Buffalo Wings & Rings.
While at Stens, she was named Inside Salesperson of the Year for 2007 and was half of the Outstanding East Sales Team in 2009. She has received several sales awards as well as earning certificates of achievement in problem solving, job instructions and training.
She is a 2011 graduate of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series and a 2013 graduate of the Dubois County Leadership Academy. This year, Jarboe is serving her second year as the first female president of the Jasper Duestcher Verein, her first year as chairperson for the Anderson Woods Tasters Fest and is a committee member for the Holy Family School fund raiser, The Hoot.
She is a lector at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she has taught religious education classes. She has been an advisor for Jasper High School Junior Achievement and is serving as a JA Advisor for second-graders at Precious Blood School in Jasper. She served the Dubois County Republican Party as a precinct committee person in Bainbridge Township and is a past chairperson of the Jasper Strassenfest. Past memberships include Big Brothers Big Sisters and various community groups.
She has sung with both the St. Joseph Church choir and Celebration Singers and has performed several summer musicals with the Jasper Community Arts Commission. Jarboe helped coordinate the women’s softball league in Dubois and served as treasurer and sergeant-at-arms for a women’s bowling league.
