Janice Jones, 73, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:08 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at her residence.
She was born February 2, 1946, in Ferdinand to Eckhart and Catherine (Blume) Egler and was united in marriage to Sam R. Jones on December 5, 1964, at St. Ferdinand Church in Ferdinand.
Janice worked as a registered nurse.
She enjoyed sewing Christmas Stockings, golfing, and bird watching. She is known to have identified almost 400 species of birds.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lloyd Egler; one sister, Rose Mary Messmer; and one brother-in-law, Gary Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Sam R. Jones of Huntingburg; two sons, Scott (Marsha) Jones of Jasper and Chris (Tami) Jones of Evansville; one daughter, Stephanie (Ron) Schepers of Jasper; three brothers, Daniel (Naomi) Egler of Jasper, Louis (Mae) Egler of Erlanger, Kentucky, and Francis (Jane) Egler of Ferdinand; one sister, Shirley Smith of Ferdinand; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Janice Jones will be held at 10 a.m. ET Monday, August 12, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, with burial to follow at Augusta Cemetery in Augusta. Chaplain Jason Rae will officiate the service.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home from 2 to 8 p.m., on Sunday, August 11, and also one hour prior to the service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
