It's up to you

To the editor:

I have written before about our revolutionary changing times. I did so when I discussed The Fourth Turning. I recently came across Peter Turchin, a historian who wrote "Ages of Discord: A Structural-Demographic Analysis of American History." In this study, he "explores the historical cycles of social disintegration and integration.” I recently bought the book and will read it soon.

He identifies three conditions necessary to complete a cycle that results in the breakdown of the old order. These are: "1. Stagnating real wages due to the oversupply of labor. 2. Overproduction of parasitic Elites. 3. Deterioration in central state finances." Today, we see this all around us in America and throughout the world.

Charles Hugh-Smith discusses this in his essay, "The Approaching Winter: The Super-Cycle Has Turned." Ages of Discord is how Brian Maher describes it, and many variables and complexities go into this phenomenon.

Smith said, "These combine to influence the broader social mood, which is characterized in eras of discord by fragmented, loyalty to self-serving special interests (disintegration)...." as opposed to an "era of cooperation by a desire and willingness to cooperate and compromise for the good of the entire society (integration).”

He began his essay with a question. "How would you describe the social mood of the nation and world?"

Smith asked, "Would anti-Establishment, anti-status quo, and anti-globalization be a good start? How about choking on fast-rising debt? Would stagnant growth and stagnant wages be a fair description? Or how about rising wealth/income inequality? Wouldn't rising disunity and political polarization be accurate?"

The problems that Progressive Socialists have brought to us, which we are going to suffer through, can only be solved by Conservatives looking for Constitutional solutions. We must do what we have done before to bring us to a springtime filled with renewed freedom, opportunity, and prosperity.

President Trump and Constitutional Conservatives in government like Mike Braun and Judge Brett Cavanaugh will lead the way. Conservatives can lead the fight against the toxic social atmosphere Progressives created. They can lead us back to sane economic policies. We do have a choice: Socialist madness or Free Market Capitalism? It is your decision as to what kind of world you want to leave for your children and grandchildren. It's up to you.
