The Dubois County Alumni Club of Indiana State University awarded two $1,000 scholarships at the awards dinner following the annual scholarship fund golf outing at Buffalo Trace Golf Course clubhouse on June 5.

The purpose of the scholarship is to promote an Indiana State University education and to provide financial assistance to local students attending ISU. The scholarship recipients for 2019 are Kaiyah Wilhite and Noah Heim.

Wilhite, daughter of Ron and Denise Wilhite, is a 2019 graduate of Forest Park High School.

Heim, son of Kent and Tina Heim, is a 2018 graduate of Jasper High School and a sophomore at Indiana State University. He is a two-time award winner.

Both recipients demonstrated excellence in their studies as well as involvement in school and community activities. The awards were presented by Ben Kappes, assistant director of Alumni Engagement at Indiana State, and the Dubois County Alumni Committee members in the presence of local alumni and friends of ISU who had gathered for the annual golf outing and dinner. Also speaking for the university at the event was John Newton, emeritus vice president of the Indiana State Alumni Association.

There were 13 teams participating in the golf outing/fundraiser for the scholarship. The first-place team consisted of Cade Knies, Shane O’Connor, Ben Schmidt and Chris Schmidt at 12 under. Second-place team members were Jerry Himsel, Mark Schmidt, Phil Schmidt and Al Seng. Bob Wente, Mark Schmidt, Matt Pryor and Dave Bledsoe were presented an award for being closest to the pin.
