Iris C. Vinsek, 96, Ferdinand, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.
She was born in Ferdinand on June 1, 1916, to Alois and Delphine (Linder) Niehaus. She married Norman “Joe” Vinsek on Sept. 3, 1938, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He died May 7, 1984.
Surviving are son Karl Vinsek of Ferdinand; daughter Judy Wilson of North Richland Hills, Texas; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Robert Niehaus, and a sister, Evelyn Steczyk.
Mrs. Vinsek retired from Stokely-Van Camp and also from Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Ill. She was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish in Ferdinand. Her hobbies included quilting and gardening.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 7 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand.
