Ireland-area crash injures Martin County motorist

From Local Sources

IRELAND — A Martin County motorist suffered injury in a single-vehicle accident Saturday evening north of the Ireland area.

Jeremy J. Schneider, 43, Loogootee, was northbound on County Road 500W in a 1997 Dodge Dakota when the 7:13 p.m. accident occurred in a curve where the road turns into County Road 400N, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy said Schneider approached the curve at a high rate of speed and his truck left the north side of the intersection and stopped in a ditch.

Schneider complained of ankle pain and was transported by ambulance for treatment at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, according to the sheriff’s office.

Damage to the truck was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

A deputy reported Schneider would be cited into court on a misdemeanor count of driving while suspended (prior).

The Ireland Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and a Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted.
