By Herald Staff

PATOKA LAKE — An investigation by Indiana Conservation officers and the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office has concluded that a Feb. 19 fire at Hoosier Hills Marina at Patoka Lake was "accidental in nature and most likely was caused by an electrical malfunction."

The fire did an estimated $2.5 million worth of damage and destroyed 22 boats at the marina, which is located at Patoka Lake.

It was determined during the initial investigation that after the fire started, efforts were made by Hoosier Hill Marina staff to put out the fire. Two boats were moved from the docks, creating a fire break.
