JASPER — A Thursday night report of a possibly intoxicated male lying in the roadway resulted in a woman’s arrest.
The Jasper Police Department was called at 11:11 p.m. to 36th Street and Manor Drive. When they arrived, the male was at the location as was a 2004 Honda Accord driven by Jacquelyn Sala, 56, 3831 N. Portersville Road, Jasper.
Police said Sala, who was at the scene to transport the male, showed signs of impairment. Before police arrived, a witness said, Sala had fallen to the ground as she exited the vehicle. The vehicle was left in reverse and had started to roll backward.
Authorities transported Sala to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center for a blood draw after police alleged she was under the influence of alcohol and prescription pills. Test results were pending this morning.
Sala was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 4:24 a.m. today on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
