From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — A traffic stop early this morning over an inoperable license plate light resulted in an impaired driving arrest.

A Huntingburg Police Department officer stopped a northbound 2006 Jeep Liberty driven by Sarah E. Babin, 30, South Bend, at 12:15 a.m. today after noticing it driving with no license plate light at 17th and Main streets.

Babin, who showed signs of impairment, had a blood alcohol content that tested .119% at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, according to police.

Authorities booked Babin into the Dubois County Security Center at 4:10 a.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of operating while intoxicated. The preliminary impaired driving charge was elevated to a felony because of a prior conviction for the offense within the last five years.
