From Local Sources
JASPER — Police who worked a weekend accident west of the Dubois Crossroads say the driver will be cited into court.
Ethan G. Kieffner, 23, Jasper, was westbound on State Road 56 in a 2014 GMC Sierra when the 3:16 a.m. accident occurred west of County Road 400E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Kieffner’s truck, for an unknown reason, went off the south side of the highway, and struck a stop sign and utility marker before stopping in a wooded area, according to a deputy. Police note that Kieffner stated he’d fallen asleep at the wheel.
Police said Kieffner was taken to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center to be treated for a wrist injury. While there, police said, a blood draw placed Kieffner’s blood alcohol content at .16%.
Because of Kieffner’s injuries, the sheriff’s office said, he will be cited into court on a misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
Total damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
