FERDINAND — A Spencer County man briefly spent time in the Dubois County Security Center during the weekend after twice failing to appear for an initial hearing in a driving-offense case.
Jerry L. Byers, 78, 569 E. Spencer County Road 1500N, Gentryville, was charged with misdemeanor driving while suspended (prior) in June and given a date to appear in court. When he failed to appear twice for an initial hearing, a failure-to-appear warrant was issued Aug. 14 in Dubois Superior Court.
Byers was booked into the security center at 6:51 p.m. Saturday on the active failure-to-appear warrant. He posted bond early Sunday afternoon.
