IHSAA adopts basketball mercy rule

The Indiana High School Athletic Association has announced it is adding a mercy rule for a running clock when a team leads by at least 35 points after the first half. This will apply to all levels of play and for the state tournament, with the exception being the state finals.

The IHSAA put in its press release the running clock will be only stopped when a team takes a timeout, an official's timeout is called, a player is injured, after the third quarter and before the start of the fourth quarter, a foul resulting in a trip to the free throw line or if an official thinks it's necessary for safety reasons.

Regional soccer information

Forest Park's girls and boys soccer teams are both set to play this week at South Knox in their first game of the regional tournament. A 6 p.m. start is scheduled for both games. The girls will play on Wednesday, and the boys on Thursday. Tickets are $8 per person.

Heritage Hills is set to play 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Madison in the team's first game of the regional tournament. The Patriots won their first sectional since 2016 on Saturday. It's set to be played at the high school football field - 743 Clifty Drive. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are $8 at the gate.
