Ida Mae Welp, 85, Jasper
June 15, 2020Ida Mae Welp, 85, of Jasper, passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at home.

Ida Mae was born in Jasper on January 6, 1935, to Bernard and Mary Helen (Johnson) Seifert. She married Herbert L. Welp on September 8, 1956, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
She graduated from Jasper High School in 1953, and worked for many years as a Lab Technician at Memorial Hospital, she was also a childcare provider for many years.
Ida Mae was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and their Ladies Sodality, and a member of the VFW Post #673 Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing cards, praying the rosary and spending time with friends and family.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Herbert L. Welp of Jasper; six sons, Keith Welp, Larry Welp and Joe Welp, all of Jasper, Ron Welp (Connie), Rosemount, Minnesota, Scott Welp (Anne), Indianapolis, and Bob Welp (Cheryl), Celestine; two daughters, Mary Ann Beissel (Dan), Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Michelle Fulton (Tim) Evansville; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Seifert , Terre Haute, and Jim Seifert (Margaret), Jasper; and three sisters, Betty Judy (John), Jasper, and Jeannette Carter, and Barbara Seifert, both of Florida.
Preceding her in death were four sisters, Helen Rose Herr, Margaret Kieffner, Geri Pieper, and Mary Jo Fischer; and one brother; Charles Seifert.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ida Mae Welp will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. A private visitation will be held at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, or to a favorite charity.
