Ice factors into Dubois mishap

DUBOIS — A patch of ice factored into a Tuesday morning mishap on Main Street in Dubois.

Dayton O. Cummins, 18, Hillham, was eastbound on Main Street in a 2007 Chevrolet when the 9:30 a.m. accident occurred near Short Street, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

Cummins lost control of his vehicle on a patch of ice on the roadway, according to the sheriff’s department. The Chevrolet slid left of center and struck a parked 2016 Dodge owned by Judy Royer that was unoccupied in a private drive.

There were no injuries but total damage was estimated to have exceeded $5,000, according to the sheriff’s department.
