FERDINAND — A weekend traffic stop on I-64 west of the Ferdinand exit sent an out-of-state motorist to jail.
An Indiana State Police trooper stopped a westbound vehicle near the 62-mile marker Sunday afternoon for traveling 83 mph in the 70 mph zone. During the traffic stop, the trooper found the driver, James R. McPheeters, 18, St. Louis, Missouri, in possession of marijuana.
Authorities booked McPheeters into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:43 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana. He was given a date to appear in court and released on his own recognizance that afternoon.
