SCHNELLVILLE — Hydroplaning was suspected in a two-car, head-on collision Tuesday afternoon in Schnellville.
Brittany N. Howe, 34, Birdseye, was westbound on Schnellville Road in a 2005 Toyota Corolla when the 3:22 p.m. accident occurred 50 feet east of Pine Ridge Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Howe’s Toyota went left of center, with Howe stating the car hydroplaned. The Corolla struck an eastbound 2011 Ford Fusion driven by Donnie R. Goldman, 72, English, head on, according to the sheriff’s office.
Goldman was transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center after complaining of chest pain.
A deputy cited Howe for driving with expired plates and issued a written warning for driving left of center.
Total damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, the Schnellville Volunteer Fire Department and wreckers from Berg’s Garage and Ruxer Ford assisted.
