Huntingburg firefighters log weekend runsDecember 23, 2019
From Local Sources
HUNTINGBURG — Units of the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department logged two weekend runs, although neither involved an actual fire.
The first call, at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, was an alarm activation at The Lofts at St. Joseph’s, 1900 Medical Arts Drive.
Department Fire Investigator John C. Smith said steam from boiling water triggered a sensitive alarm.
Three trucks and 10 firefighters were on the scene 20 minutes.
Then, at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, a low water pressure alarm sounded at the Huntingburg Event Center, 110 E. 14th St.
Smith said the fire department had been doing some hydrant testing in the area and that activity is thought to have triggered the alarm.
Five trucks and 10 firefighters were on the scene 15 minutes.
