Huntingburg driver facing OWI accusation

From Local Sources

PRINCETON — A Huntingburg man was arrested Wednesday night in Gibson County and accused of resisting law enforcement and impaired driving.

A Gibson County Sheriff’s Department deputy did some checking after observing a 2010 Ford Fusion parked at Gibson Lanes in Princeton with one of its doors open. The deputy then made contact with Stephen R. D’Esposito, 24, Huntingburg, who occupied the car’s driver’s seat.

The deputy started a roadside OWI investigation after detecting the odor of alcohol and eventually took D’Esposito into custody.

Authorities have charged D’Esposito with a preliminary Level 6 felony count of operating while intoxicated and a preliminary misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement. The impaired driving charge is being enhanced to a felony because of a previous conviction within the last five years.

D’Esposito is being held on $750 bond at the Gibson County Jail.
