Hungry officer makes arrests over meal break

From Local Sources

FERDINAND — A meal break at a local fast food restaurant Friday night resulted in three arrests before the officer could even order his tacos.

The Ferdinand Police Department reports that the officer who pulled into Taco Bell, 420 S. Main St., around 10 p.m. noticed the strong order of burnt marijuana as he exited his patrol vehicle.

The officer then made contact with the subjects sitting in a vehicle three parking spots away. After an investigation, the officer arrested the three men, identified as Ferdinand residents Blake Egler, David Bates and Kirbi McCandless, on Class A misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

The men were transported and booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
