Hospital employees activate pull alarm

From Local Sources

JASPER — Members of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department were called Tuesday afternoon to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, 800 W. Ninth St.

Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang said employees activated a pull station alarm at 1:53 p.m. after noticing the smell of smoke on the third floor.

Most of the smell had dissipated by the time firefighters arrived but, Hochgesang noted, it was still evident. The department used thermal imaging cameras to look for a potential problem but did not locate anything.

Four trucks and 29 firefighters were on the scene 30 minutes.
