Hospital charges among lowest

From local sources

JASPER — Of the state’s 87 hospitals, Memorial Hospital has the lowest charges for inpatient services and the second-lowest charges for outpatient services, according to the Indiana Hospital Association.

The information, published last month by the association and shared in a news release from the hospital, was based on adjusted average charges per case from 2011, the most recent data available.

For inpatient services, the hospital’s average charge was $10,111. For outpatient, the figure was $172.

“It demonstrates our commitment to provide value to our community,” Ray Snowden, the hospital’s CEO, president and chairman, said, “and yet we recognize that our efforts to improve quality and be as efficient as possible are an ongoing process.”
