Honors come in for local tennis players

By Herald Staff

The honors continue to come for Jasper's boys tennis program after the Wildcats made it to the state semifinals this year — one match shy of the state championship.

Junior One Singles Justin Shultz and fellow junior Max Sternberg, the Two Singles, both made it to the All-District 7 Singles team in 2020. Forest Park senior Nathan Jarboe and Heritage Hills senior Josh Dellamuth also made this team.

Both of Jasper's doubles teams made the All-District 7 Doubles squads as well. The One Doubles tandem of seniors Grant Stratton and Jobe Luebbhusen, as well as Two Doubles seniors Bennett Schmitt and Hudson Himsel, made the grade. Northeast Dubois seniors Tanner Hurt and Logan Lampert also made it to the team.

Jasper coach Scott Yarbrough was named the District 7 Coach of the Year, but the honors didn't stop there, as numerous locals were named All State.

Shultz earned 2nd-Team All-State Singles, while both Sternberg and Jarboe were named All-State Singles Honorable Mentions. Luebbehusen and Stratton were named 1st-Team All-State Doubles, while Schmitt and Himsel, plus Hurt and Lampert, were named All-State Doubles Honorable Mentions
