HOLLAND — Authorities say a Holland resident was killed Monday when her SUV crossed into the path of a semi on State Road 161, just north of I-64.
Mary Lou Buse, 86, Holland, was pronounced deceased by the Dubois County Coroner’s Office after the crash, which occurred just before 5 p.m.
Indiana State Police say Buse was driving a Ford Escape southbound on State Road 161 when her vehicle crossed into the path of a northbound semi driven by Robert Lifford, 54, Switzerland City. The accident happened as Buse attempted to turn eastbound onto County Road 1200S, police said.
Authorities say drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash, and all family notifications have been made.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office and the Holland Volunteer Fire Department also assisted Troopers Adam McBeth, Kurtis Blunk and Nathan Kern.
The accident was Dubois County’s first roadway fatality of 2019.
