The Holland Kiwanis met at the Holland American Legion on Thursday, July 15. President Lynn Kahle called the meeting to order. President Kahle brought one item of business to the floor concerning a donation for sponsorship of the Holland Fest which takes place Sept. 17-19. A motion was made by Bev Schmutzler to make the donation and seconded by Bruce Dougan. The motion for sponsorship donation was passed.
With no further business President Kahle turned the meeting over to Katie LaMar who had the program speaker for the day. Mrs. LaMar introduced Amanda Hughes who is the executive assistant for Borrowed Hearts of Evansville. Mrs. Hughes explained that Borrowed Hearts was formed in 2016 and the organization provides clothing and hygiene items for foster children who are in foster care. Last year Borrowed Hearts served over nine hundred foster children.
