Holland Kiwanis

The Holland Kiwanis met at the American Legion in Holland on July 8th. President Lynn Kahle welcomed Indiana District Kiwanis Governor for 20/21 Martyn Furnish who was visiting the Holland Club for the day. Secretary Brenda Kahle introduced speaker of the day Erin Rauscher. Mrs. Rauscher is the owner of Yes Power Yoga studio in Huntingburg and is also the new guidance counselor at Southridge High School. Mrs. Rauscher gave a brief background on her teaching at the inner city schools of Washington D.C. for eight years. She explained how she became involved with yoga when the funding for her school ended and her school closed.

When she moved to Huntingburg she found that there was no yoga studio and yoga was such an important part of her life that she started her own studio in the form of Yes Power Yoga. Mrs. Rauscher noted that Yes Power Yoga is a registered yoga school and she has taught approximately 45/50 teachers. Currently she has eight teachers on her studio staff. She outlined how she has worked and still works with athletes and the different type of classes the studio offers. She also noted that many individuals participate in yoga as a way of improving their golf game as well as relieving stress.

Yes Power Yoga is located at 417 E. Fourth St. Huntingburg, IN.

In closing the meeting, Indiana District of Kiwanis Governor Martyn Furnish addressed the club. He talked about the loss of members that Key Clubs and Circle K have suffered. The pandemic cost approximately 40% of their members. Governor Furnish outlined steps that Kiwanis is taking to reinvigorate Key Clubs and Circle K. In addition, he informed the club of the upcoming one day convention. A brief question-and-answer session was held and with no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
