Holland KiwanisJuly 1, 2021
The Holland Kiwanis Club met at the Holland American Legion on July 1. President Lynn Kahle called the meeting to order. President Kahle read a thank-you letter from Ronald McDonald House for the club's recent donation. Secretary Brenda Kahle presented member Roy Carpenter with a perfect attendance award for the past year. With no further business, Dana Peacock introduced the speaker of the day, Marilyn Dippel.
Mrs Dippel along with her husband Tom and daughter Meghan Peacock and her husband Clay are owners of Pretty Bird Farms. Located on the edge of Holland at 7520 W 900 S. Holland, IN, Pretty Bird Farms is a flower farm. The idea began by growing flowers for Clay and Meghan Peacock's wedding. It continued with flowers for Kenley Peacock's wedding and has evolved into a business. The farm grows a variety of perennials, sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, gladiolas, stratos, snapdragons, and other species of flowers. They started in February with planting seeds in flats which would later be planted.
The owners are featuring a u-pick day where people can come and pick their own bouquets. In addition, they are hoping that people find the peaceful farm a photo location for senior pictures, etc. Pretty Bird Farms can be found at the Huntingburg Farmers Market and on Facebook at PrettyBirdFarmsLLC. Mrs. Dippel noted that the business is in its first year and is evolving. They hope to be doing dried flowers, hosting wedding photos, wholesale buckets, and subscriptions. They can also be found on Instagram @prettybirdfarms and their email is firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, you can call at 812-536-3866 or go to their website at prettybirdfarms.wixsite.com/prettybirdfarms.
A short question-and-answer session followed. Before closing, David Springston noted that Southridge High School has a new Kiwanis Club Sponsor. Nicole Hopf is the new sponsor for the club and she is currently gathering information so she can assume her duties. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
