Holland Kiwanis

The regular monthly meeting of the Holland Kiwanis was held at the Holland American Legion on June 10. President Lynn Kahle called the meeting to order. After the Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, and the singing of "My Country Tis of Thee," President Kahle gave a brief summary of the Holland Kiwanis Scholarship breakfast. A brief discussion was held concerning a donation to the Ronald McDonald House in Evansville. A motion was made and seconded to give $500 to the Ronald McDonald House and it was approved.

A motion was also made and seconded to give $100 to the Holland United Methodist Church for allowing the Holland Kiwanis to hold their sausage and pancake breakfast at their church. Bev Schmutzler stated that all supplies used at the church would be donated. Keith Chanley, pastor of Holland Methodist Church and a Kiwanis members along with Bev Schmutzler decided to decline the check as it is a chance for the church to give back to the community.

David Springston gave a recap of the Junior Achievement program that the Kiwanis Club participated in. He thanked Ruth Wilson for her help in making this season a success.

With no further business Randy Flamion introduced the speaker of the day, Evan Hipp. Mr. Hipp is the owner of Holland Dentistry, formerly known as the Holland Dental Clinic. Mr. Hipp grew up in the Haubstadt area with his family owning Hipp Nursery. Mr. and Mrs. Hipp are the parents of four chldren including a set of twins. Holland Dentistry is the third office of Mr. Hipp. His other offices are in Evansville and Haubstadt. He bases his clinics on providing good honest care for their patients.

The tentative opening date is the fourth week of July. Currently, the building that houses the dental practice is undergoing a major renovation. The dentist at the new office will be Kassidy Wolf. Ms. Wolf is originally from the Mt. Vernon area and she will be living in Warrick County. Rita Bartelt will be returning as dental hygienist, Jami Ferguson will be office manager, and Mattison Bartelt will be dental assistant and hygienist. The office will be open Tuesday through Friday, with later hours on Wednesday evening to help accommodate those who work.

A short question-and-answer session was held and with no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
