Holland controlled burn flares overnight

HOLLAND — Units of the Holland Volunteer Fire Department were called south of Holland overnight to the report of a possible structure fire.
Fire Chief Adam Chambers said the property at 10669 S. State Road 161 had recently had a mobile home removed from it. A controlled burn that the owner thought was out had occurred Wednesday.
Firefighters were called at about 12:20 a.m. today when a passerby familiar with the location saw flames and thought the mobile home could be on fire, according to Chambers. Instead, he said, the debris from the controlled burn had rekindled.
Two trucks and eight firefighters were on the scene for an hour ensuring the flames were extinguished.
