From Local Sources

JASPER — A Saturday evening report of a hit-and-run accident resulted in a man being taken to jail.

The Jasper Police Department was contacted at 6:43 p.m. by an employee at the Autozone store on Indiana Street who reported observing a vehicle strike a light pole in the parking lot and then leave the scene.

An officer located a vehicle matching the caller’s description a short time later in the south-side McDonald’s restaurant parking lot.

Taken into custody and preliminarily charged with a misdemeanor count of leaving the scene of a property damage accident was Ryan M. King, 37, Washington. An officer also cited King for driving while suspended.

Authorities booked King into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:14 p.m. He posted bond later Saturday night.
