JASPER — A Thursday afternoon accident just west of Jasper totaled a late-model Toyota pickup truck.
Simon E. Rojas Sanchez, 27, Jasper, was eastbound on County Road 300N in a 2019 Toyota Tacoma when the 1:22 p.m. accident occurred just west of County Road 350W, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Rojas Sanchez told a deputy he was run off the road by a black Chevrolet HHR that was westbound. Rojas Sanchez said there was water running over the west lane and he was trying to avoid a collision with the HHR in his lane.
The Tacoma went into a ditch that was overflowing with water, according to the sheriff’s department.
Rojas Sanchez was able to exit the truck. He complained of back and leg pain but declined to be transported from the scene for treatment, according to the sheriff’s department.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information related to it is asked to call the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department at 812-482-3522.
