Heroes’ Tree honors service members

FERDINAND — The Ferdinand Branch Library announces that a Heroes’ Tree has been placed in the library.

The Heroes’ Tree is a national initiative that gives friends and families of U.S. service members a way to show their appreciation. The program started in 2005 at the United States Military Academy at West Point and has grown every year since, including support from the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University.

The public is invited to visit the Ferdinand Library and pick up a free ornament to add to the tree. The ornaments should be decorated with names and/or pictures of U.S. service members from the past and present and returned to the tree.

The library’s is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

More information can be obtained by contacting the library at 812-367-1671 or  visiting the library’s Facebook page.
