Here are some tips when hiring someone to paint

To the editor:

As a professional painter, I want to remind your readers that they need to do research before hiring any painting company. Consumers need to ask questions:

What kind of reviews does the company get online?

Do their crews take simple steps to do prep work such as mildew removal, scraping, cleaning, caulking and priming? (If mildew is not treated properly, it will easily move through paint.)
Whom do I contact if there are problems now? In the future?

How much and what kind of training do supervisors and employees get?

Do they follow Environmental Protection Agency requirements when it comes to lead containment?

Hiring an unfamiliar painter can be a gamble. That’s why you need to do research, both online and by word of mouth since this is a small town.
