Herbert G. Obermeier, 85, Fulda, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.
He was born to Anton and Martha (Roos) Obermeier on Jan. 13, 1928, in Fulda. He married Marie Kern on May 26, 1951, at St. Joseph Church in Dale.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Obermeier; two sons, Fred Obermeier and wife Marion and Rick Obermeier and wife Carla of Fulda; two daughters, Vicky Obermeier of Louisville and Gina Obermeier of Washington; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Obermeier.
Mr. Obermeier retired from Kimball International after 35 years. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda, its men’s society and Spencer County Memorial Forest.
He enjoyed gardening and raising rabbits and was a musician who played with numerous bands throughout Spencer, Dubois and Perry counties.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. CDT Monday in St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. CDT Sunday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and after 9 a.m. CDT Monday at the church.
