Heimatfest donates back to community

By Herald Staff

FERDINAND — Although the 2020 Heimatfest was canceled, financial support from corporate and individual sponsors made it possible to stay solvent, continue 2021 planning and enact a community giving plan.

Sponsors’ financial support helped make the annual Raffle and Jeep Run possible. Both had record participation from the community. Proceeds from those events allowed The Heimatfest to donate $5,500 back to the community. The Ferdinand Endowment received $1500, and the Dubois County Community Foundation General Grants Fund received $1000. The remainder was split accordingly between organizations that volunteer to help the Heimatfest operate each year. These groups are The Ferdinand Community Center, NASCAR Club of Southern Indiana, Boy Scout Troop 187, Knights of Columbus, and Forest Park Athletic Programs: Boys Basketball, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer and Football.

Next year's Heimatfest is scheduled for June 18-19.
