Heartland Kids Run registration open

JASPER – Registration for the sixth annual Heartland Kids Fun Run and Festival is open. The Heartland Kids Fun Run and Festival will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Dave Buehler Plaza and Jasper Riverwalk, with the Fun Run beginning at 6 p.m. The festival is free and open to the public. Registration will continue for the Fun Run through race day.

Participants need to complete the youth challenge where kids run and log a total of 12 miles on the race log. Turn in the race log at registration and then run the 1.1 Kids Run on Sept. 20 to complete a kid’s marathon in total miles run. Youth Challenge participants who submit their completed race log at registration will be entered to win Beats wireless headphones.

The body, mind and spirit focused festival features many booths, games and music. Beginning at 5 p.m., the community can participate in activities such as a gymnastics demonstrations, face painting, wacky hair station, photo booth, wellness booths, music and fun games. 

Children age 4 through eighth grade can register for the 1.1 mile Kids Fun Run by submitting a registration flyer or by visiting www.heartlandhalfmarathon.com. The race log can be found online at www.heartlandhalfmarathon.com.

Proceeds benefit Girls on the Run serving in Dubois County. Girls on the Run, an international non-profit, is a positive youth development program designed for girls in grades three through five.
