Hearing set for Spencer Co. intersection improvement

From Local Sources

CHRISNEY — The Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public hearing in Chrisney next week to offer the public an opportunity to comment on current design plans for a U.S. 231 proposed intersection improvement at State Road 70 and County Road 800 North in Spencer County.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. CT Wednesday at the Spencer County Youth & Community Center, 1101 E. County Road 800N in Chrisney.

The purpose of the project is to improve safety by eliminating the State road 70 and County Road 800 North left turn and crossing movements at the U.S. 231 location. The preferred alternative proposes to convert the existing intersection to median U-turn configurations north and south of the intersection.

Project materials and documentation will be posted on the INDOT website prior to the public hearing.
