Hearing no-show results in warrant

JASPER — Authorities booked a Birdseye man into the Dubois County Security Center on Saturday on a failure-to-appear warrant.
Shane J. Schlachter, 41, 30 Poplar St., Birdseye, was charged in Dubois Superior Court with misdemeanor driving while suspended (prior) in mid-March. He was given a March 19 initial hearing date, and when he did not attend the proceeding, a failure-to-appear warrant was issued.
Authorities booked Schlachter into the security center at 8:22 p.m. Saturday on the active warrant. During an initial hearing Monday, a preliminary plea of not guilty was entered, Schlachter’s next hearing was set for May 12 and he was released on his own recognizance.
