Hear story behind Texaco venture

IRELAND — The Ireland Historical Society Program will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in the society’s building at 5173 W. Walnut St. 

The program will feature the newest addition to downtown Ireland, which is the Vintage Texaco Filling Station.

Brett Voelkel, lately of Air Ride Technologies, has taken the 1940-’50s building on the corner of County Road 500 and Highway 56 under his wing. He will be present with video and audio history of his business and new venture. The program will last one hour.

Everyone is invited to visit Voelkel’s vintage garage building at 2:30 p.m. for an open house. Refreshments will be served in the vintage building.

Members may catch up on their $10 dues. Everyone is welcome to join the society to help preserve the Ireland area history.
