JASPER — A Hamilton County motorist was booked into jail early Thursday after police accused him of possessing paraphernalia and driving while impaired.
A Dubois County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by Michael J. Lukovic, 23, Carmel, at 11:44 p.m. Wednesday after observing Lukovic make several lane changes without signaling as his car traveled northbound in the area of Newton and 30th streets.
After a traffic stop, the deputy reported smelling the odor of burnt and raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. Police then report finding a grinder containing marijuana.
Lukovic later tested positive for the presence of marijuana in his system during testing at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Lukovic into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:37 a.m. on preliminary misdemeanor charges of operating while intoxicated and possession of paraphernalia.
