DALE — Republican Heather Gries has filed to seek election to the Spencer County Commissioner District 2 seat, which includes Carter, Clay, Grass and Jackson townships.
Gries is a 1991 Graduate of Heritage Hills High School.
She is the owner of Anna Von Salon & Boutique in Dale and works as a cosmetologist at the salon. She completed her cosmetology studies in August 2004 and opened her first business in January 2006. Being a business owner, Gries also works as an independent contractor, specializing in business development for Cash Waggner & Associates PC, an engineering and surveying firm in Jasper. Gries’ career started in human resources, design and development, and purchasing in the furniture manufacturing industry prior to owning her business.
Gries founded Business Networking Spencer County in January 2018 and Livewire Co-working in November 2018, which is Jasper’s first and only co-working space. In May 2018, Gries became a Spencer County CASA board member, and se became a member of the Spencer County Catalyst Board in October 2018. In November 2019, she completed Spencer County Leadership.
“I am a passionate, Spencer County resident and a goal of mine is to unite all business leaders and create a task force to make Spencer County more business-friendly,” Gries said. “Spencer County is ideally situated for economic expansion, along with the collaboration of county wide broadband, we the people of Spencer County can be the first for rural community success. When elected to serve on the Board of County Commissioners it will give me the opportunity to achieve these goals. I am proud to say, I have spent the prior 24 months gathering information and understanding county government along with attending many commissioner and council meetings.”
Gries enjoys spending time with family and friends. Gries and her husband, Jim, a grain farmer, live in Dale. She is a mother of three: Jordan, 28, Victoria, 25, and Trevor 17. In her spare time, she enjoys doing crafts, riding horses and volunteering within the community.
