Grant will fund Portersville Road improvements

From Local Sources

JASPER — The City of Jasper and its Engineering Department announced Thursday that the city has received a Community Crossing Matching Grant through the Indiana Department of Transportation for improvements to Portersville Road.

The matching grant is in the amount of $264,162.50. The project will include the widening of Portersville Road, the installation and replacement of storm sewers, and the installation of a pedestrian path.

The project has been planned in collaboration with Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools to be completed by the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. It addresses a major safety concern involving pedestrians/students walking along the current narrow roadway.
