Glen R. Whitson, 82, Vincennes
April 6, 2020Glen R. Whitson, 82, died peacefully in his home in Vincennes on Sunday, April 5, 2020.

Glen was born December 31, 1937, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, to Ray and Pansy Lee (Vowels) Whitson.
He graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1955 and lived most of his life in Vincennes. Glen owned and operated several local businesses and was a pilot for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Moose, Eagles, and Sons of the American Legion organizations.
Glen was preceded in death by his son, Jeff; both of his parents; and three sisters, Ramona, Winona and Darlene.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary (Hasenour Fuhrman) Whitson; his brother, Charles (Linda) Whitson, his sons, David Whitson and Jason (Jamie) Cline; and his daughters, Gina (Ted) Greenwood, Babette (Chris) Akins, Nona (Jay) Baker and Tammy (Scott) Sermersheim. His legacy will live on through his 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Glen’s love of singing was expressed as a member of the Hoosier Heritage Harmonizers. Glen’s favorite Sinatra song, “My Way,” was a fitting anthem for his life. Regardless of life’s challenges, he was a kind and generous man with an open heart and an endless supply of love to give. “I faced it all, and I stood tall and did it my way.”
A private family service and celebration of life will be Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Anyone interested will be able to watch the service live on Goodwin Funeral Home Facebook page and you will be notified when it goes live.
