Girls on the Run in search of coaches

Girls on the Run serving Dubois County is holding Spring 2019 coach registration.

Girls on the Run is a program that is available to all third- through fifth-grade girls in Dubois County. The 10-week program incorporates running to teach critical life skills, encourage personal development and foster team building and community service. Volunteer coaches utilize a curriculum to engage teams of girls in fun, interactive lessons. Teams meet twice a week between 75 and 90 minutes; the program culminates with all teams participating in a 5k event.

Girls on the Run serving Dubois County is celebrating five years serving Dubois County and currently serves girls at nine sites in the Southeast Dubois, Northeast Dubois, Greater Jasper and Southwest Dubois school corporations. Volunteers provide critical leadership and the non-profit organization is currently seeking coaches to facilitate the program with small teams of eight to 15 girls.

Coaches do not need to be runners, but they are required to be at least age 18 to serve as an assistant or age 21 to serve as a head coach. All volunteer coaches must complete a background check and attend a training session.
