Ginseng hunter caught with marijuana

From Local Sources

JASPER — A Department of Natural Resources conservation officer made a drug arrest Thursday while on routine wildlife patrol.

The conservation officer encountered a Ford Explorer parked at a pulloff at County Road 400N and Kellerville Road, which led to authorities allegedly observing Jonathon S. Fehribach, 34, Eckerty, digging for ginseng at the location.

It is alleged Fehribach, who was in possession of marijuana and ginseng roots at the scene, did not have the landowner’s permission to be on the property digging for ginseng.

Authorities booked Fehribach into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:57 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana. He posted bond later in the afternoon.
