Gilbert Riley Tredway, 96, of French Lick, formerly of Jasper, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 14, 2019.
He was born in Cuzco on October 11, 1922, to George Riley and Pearl Cornelia “Jones” Tredway. Gilbert married Mary Canzoneri in 1944 and she passed on May 28, 1978.
He served in the Army Air Force from 1940 to 1945. Tredway was wounded while protecting a convoy in New Guinea and received the Purple Heart. He also received the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal, Air Medal, American Campaign Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one daughter, one sister, and two half sisters.
Gilbert is survived by one son, George Rodney Tredway; one great-niece, Patricia Haste; five grandchildren; and two great-grandkidschildren.
The Funeral Ceremony will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 18, at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick. Burial will follow in Cuzco Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until the time of service on Friday at the Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick.
