German Club plans new community eventJune 24, 2019
JASPER — The Jasper Deutscher Verein (Jasper German Club) will introduce a new community, family friendly event, StrassenVORfest, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Moose Lodge 1175, 2507 N Newton St. This will be a “Prep for the Fest” event.
StrassenVORfest will help usher in the 2019 Strasssenfest, which will be held Aug. 1 through 4.
There will be German dancing lessons, singing, German-themed coloring for kids, and waltz and chicken dance lessons for everyone.
The Strassenfest wood cut-out will be available for those who wish to take pictures.
A free gift bag will be given to the first 200 families to register. The gift bags will include German flags and coupons from local businesses.
Also attending will be representatives from the Jasper German Club, the 2019 Strassenfest Committee and the Jasper Chamber of Commerce to share information on the Strassenfest. There also will be 2019 Strassenfest buttons and mugs for sale, various sizes of Strassenfest buntings, slightly used and new traditional German clothing items, and a variety of vintage Strassenfest souvenirs for sale. Food will be sold.
For those who sign up to be Jasper German Club members, dues will payable until Jan. 1. Dues are $20 for a couple and $10 for an individual.
