General meeting set for Hoosier Boys State

JASPER — American Legion Post 147 of Jasper will host a general meeting about Hoosier Boys State on Monday, March 16, at the post home starting promptly at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the bingo room; participants should enter from Newton Street.

The meeting is open to all high school juniors, including home-schooled juniors, within Dubois and surrounding counties. Juniors from Jasper High School and Northeast Dubois High School have already registered as delegates. Juniors from Southridge High School and Forest Park are welcome. Parents are strongly advised to attend with their sons. American Legion Boys State chairmen from the local posts are invited as well.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss in detail the purpose of Hoosier Boys State including eligibility, outside sponsorship, how to apply, scholarships available, just to name a few areas. The meeting will be approximately 1 ½ hours, which will include a Power Point presentation on the 2020 Hoosier Boys State.

Hoosier Boys State is from June 14 through 20 at Trine University in Angola. The $300 cost per delegate is paid for by the American Legion Post 147 and its local sponsors.

High school juniors may explore the many opportunities that can be gained through attending Hoosier Boys State. This will be a “Week to Shape a Lifetime.”
