General meeting set for Hoosier Boys StateJanuary 3, 2019
JASPER — American Legion Post 147 of Jasper is hosting a general meeting regarding Hoosier Boys State at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16. The meeting will be in the bingo room. Participants should enter the building from Newton Street.
The meeting is open to all high school juniors from Jasper, Southridge and Forest Park high schools, and home-school students. A separate meeting will be scheduled for Northeast Dubois High School juniors in March. Parents are strongly advised to attend with their sons.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss in detail the purpose of Hoosier Boys State, including eligibility, outside sponsorship, how to apply and scholarships available. The meeting will be approximately one and a half hours and will include a power point presentation on the 2018 Hoosier Boys State.
Hoosier Boys State will take place from June 17 through 23 at Trine University in Angola. The $300 cost per delegate is paid for by the American Legion Post 147 and its local sponsors.
Hoosier Boys State Chairman Daniel Lawson is conducting a massive fund raising effort and hopes to send 20 delegates to the premier American Legion Program.
