JASPER — Police booked a woman into jail after a Friday afternoon accident at a north-side gas station.
The Jasper Police Department was called to a property-damage accident at Northside Citgo, 2707 Newton St., at 4:53 p.m.
Police say Kandra K. Knies, 44, 1300 Dewey St., Jasper, was backing her 2006 Toyota Prius out of a parking spot when the car struck a parked 2012 Ford F-250 driven by Theodore Cotman Jr., 55, Jasper.
Officers who allege Knies was driving while impaired said she was transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center where testing determined she was impaired on prescription medications.
Authorities booked Knies into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:05 p.m. on preliminary misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated (endangerment) and operating while intoxicated.
Damage to the vehicles at the gas station was estimated at $3,500 to the Cotman pickup truck and $1,500 to the Knies passenger car.
